ReplyDeleteDiane, loved your blog on Big Data and its impacts on Travel Industry with special emphasis on Google Insights. While, reading it I remember particular time in American History of Gold Rush. Where a minority was successful in the quest of Gold, but the people who sold the equipment always made money. Fast forward today and we are in the information age where tools play the same role. Loved your examples, illustrations, videos and pertinent quote emphasis again how tools can be used and take the effort out of the guessing game, well done. Comment By Sultan Nazir
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, it's really true Google has all the strings to the bow! This is very similar to the work of the companies I mentioned in my posts: Sojern, Adara and NextRoll. Using the data coming from their partners are able to understand trends and give more insights in the travel industry. I think Covid-19 was a massive push to optimise this kind of data sources, as it was of capital importance to understand when travel would have bounced back and what moment was the best to start advertising flights, hotel stays and tours again. I hope this kind of insights will continue to stay available in the future as they could really make the difference in how small businesses in the travel sector plan their marketing activities. Thanks! Rory
